Celebrating Safely

We know everyone is looking forward to a happy and fun July 4th!  Here are a few fireworks safety tips that we wanted to share with you ahead of America’s birthday:

  • Keep the kids at a safe distance and make sure there is another adult supervising them.

  • Skip lighting fireworks if you are impaired by alcohol or drugs.

  • Wear protective eyewear.

  • Avoid picking-up or relighting fireworks that don’t ignite.

  • Don’t lean over fireworks while igniting.

  • Move away from the firework after lighting.

  • Make sure the firework is not pointed at another person.

  • Keep water handy just in case.

  • Only light one firework at a time.

  • Do not shoot fireworks off in metal or glass containers.

  • Soak fireworks in water after igniting to avoid a trash fire.

  • Always light fireworks outside.

  • It’s also important to keep in mind that sparklers burn up to 2,000 degrees and can melt some metals so keep an eye on your kids when using sparklers.

From our family at Bagwell & Bagwell to yours, we wish you a happy July 4th!
